Using up Scraps

I'm trying to use up all my scraps lately as I have way too much and it's cluttering my brain as well as my creative space!

I thought I would share my creations - Mum and Dad will take these and more with them on their trip up to Darwin in their bus to sell to the travellers they meet along the way!

I pulled out the left over bits from a class sample that I made for last month using the Echo Park Little Girl Range.

I mostly had Journalling Cards left over so I pulled out my folder of scraps and this is what I came up with.

A paper scrap organisation tip I have it to cut up a selection of large paper scraps into card fronts - 14cm x 10cm and keep them handy so you can rumage through them when you have smaller scraps to use on quick cards!

This is super old Stampin Up paper - It's been hanging around for ages so I'm glad to be using it finally!

The ribbon ruffles add some dimension!

I love love love these lolly pop flowers, they are just scraps of paper punched using nesting punches or nestability circles and your cuttlebug, stacked and stapled with the Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher! These ones I've crumpled a little bit for some dimension.

These ones I've left flat for a cleaner look.

Just some left over flowers and a brad on top of a journalling block which has been layered with a couple of bits of cardstock.

I've used the star motif on the journalling tag and copied it by adding a larger chipboard star as the focal point!

Nice and easy - Just because it is a journalling tag doesn't mean you have to write on it - Break the rules sometimes! It's fun!

Lots of layering and another ribbon ruffle.

Buttons and string - Simple and oh sew cute!

Thanks for stopping by my blog - Hope you like it!

Happy Easter...

I hope you all had a fabulous Easter and Anzac Day Long Weekend!
I've had a great time. I've been wanting to do this printers tray from 7Gypsies for ages now for display in store and today I finally got to it. I bought these Papers from the Be Mine collection from Echo Park ages ago with intention to use them for the photos I took at my good friend Rachael's wedding which was in April 2010! So after a year I have finally got around to it and here is the finished result!

(The saying is "Love is like a butterfly, it settles upon you when you least expect it")
I love it and I've made a vow with myself after trying to organise my scraps that after I complete a project I will make as many cards as I can with the left overs before I start another project.

I made these 10 cards with the left overs from the Printers Tray and I am more than happy with the results.

Edges are inked with Black Soot Distress Ink and the ribbon is Vandross Organza in Black.

Love the bird cage! with the escapee on top! Cheeky in an elegant way!

These little heart mirrors are by Twiddlybits! I've had them for ages and not really known what to do with them so I'm so happy I found a use for them and I'm really happy with the result! I think I will have to buy some more.

I used Black Cordinations with a pink core - I just sanded the edges to get a pink border! How easy is that!

I couldn't possible have made 10 cards without using my favourite Monarch Butterfly Punch by Martha Stewart!

Love this saying by Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous! Also used vintage linen thread that I got from a junk shop! I actually bought it for the wooden reel but the thread is beautiful! Bonus!

I have a ton of chipboard bits and these 2 bracketty type frames were perfect to add a little bit of interest!

This one is a tattered angels chipboard mistable frame - I spritzed it with Raven Glimmermist and then sanded the top layer back as the chipboard has an embossed image it came up beautifully.

Again with the cute mirror hearts - I also love this ribbon ruffling lately - So easy and so effective.

Love this Fleur de Leis! and the Tim Holtz Film Strip is perfect.

This is a beautiful range from Echo Park - Come in a pick some up from Pages 2 Scrap for your next crafting project!

A Big Change for Bec...

Hi Everyone, Long time no Blog!
My lame excuse is that I have recently been made redundant from my full time job which kind of sent me in a tailspin!
Don't get me wrong! It wasn't the worst thing in the world but somehow I fell into a Lazy Coma and have been doing not very much of anything productive since my last day which was now almost 3 weeks ago!

So, I have finally regained my motivation (slightly) and
I have a ton of classes lined up for April!

I am teaching 2 classes on Wednesday (which is technically today!), the first is at 10.30am for 2 hours and is a 3 quick layouts class using absolultey gorgeous and fun Echo Park Patterned Papers. This class is suitable for both beginners and seasoned scrapbookers. All you need to bring with you is your paper trimmer and some double sided tape! Oh! and of course a bundle of photos that you don't mind cropping! Also don't forget you can bring your USB drive and we can print your suitable photos right instore instantly - How awesome is that!

Here is a sneaky peak of the Samples I made!

If you would like to attend you can just turn up at 10.30am, but if you can please call Sue on 1300 664 228 after 9am to book your place.

If you like the look of this class but you are busy tomorrow,
I am teaching it again on Saturday the 16th of April at 2pm till 4pm.

Class fee including kit is $30

I am also teaching a Create with Cuttlebug Class tomorrow afternoon which is designed to show you what you can do with your cuttlebug machine. This class is also perfect for beginners but you will learn lots and have heaps of fun even if you have been using your Cuttlebug for years. You will go home with a sample booklet full of beautiful samples that you can either keep as a reference or use on your scrapbook layouts or cards.

This class starts at 1.30pm and finishes at 3.30pm

If you have your own Cuttlebug please bring it along with your
A plate
B plate x2
C plate if you have one

You can bring your own embossing folders and dies but they are not required.

Wicked Wings!

We'll it's Sunday again and I have to say I like Sundays... They have no need to rush kinda feel to them.
I wanted to show you some cheeky little winged creations I made recently

This one was something similar to a an element from a class I attended with Collections Elements at SIA but I decided to have a play after seeing some of Sherry Mendoza's creations at a scrap night I attended. I used Collections Elements wings and dress form chipboard pieces, I covered the bodice with Kaisercraft flocked paper from the Gypsy Sisters collection. I then painted the wings with pearl Adirondack acrylic paint Dabber (I love these) and then I gave them 2 coats of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in Tide Pool. While the wings were drying I wrapped some aqua tulle strip around the waist and used Bling to make a snake design to add some interest. I used large Zots to attach the wings to the body at the shoulder. I curved the wings to give a bit of dimension.
This could be used on a scrapbooking layout or on a card front or in a shadow box or even just as a little piece to give to a friend.

This one is a little creepy but I love it! The day I made this one - I was recovering from my operation and had just watched Tim Burtons Alice in Wonderland so I may have been influenced slightly.

I used Tim Holtz Fanciful Flight Sizzix Die for the wings which I cut from scraps of cream cardstock and bookpaper for the inserts, I assembled them using glossy accents and gave them a coat of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in Rustic. I also used a small bodice from Collections Elements and covered it in book paper and a coat of Glimmer Glam. I then added a head cut from a Dark Room Door Film Strip. Leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you liked my wicked wings

Copic Creations...

Well I am now totally addicted to Copic Markers!

I have probably replaced smoking with Copic
(obviously a much healthier habit)
It's been 6 weeks and I feel great.

Anyway, I wanted to talk about Copic this morning

These markers are so easy to use, they are coloured ink suspended in alcohol and when you blend on special xpress it paper you can get an even streak free blend that looks like a printed picture. They come in sooooo many awesome colours too.

Here are a couple of cards that I have put together with images I've coloured using Copic

I printed off this image from google images and coloured it in.

Such a sweet pic!

Copic classes are held at Pages 2 Scrap

Beautiful Backgrounds....

I've been experimenting with distress inks lately and I decided to use water colour paper to make some backgrounds, Wow I love the effect - I've used Tim Holtz distress Inks with Perfect Pearls Mist.

A non stick heat resistant craft sheet is a must for this technique.

Just rub a couple of different coloured inks straight from the pad on to your craft sheet then spritz with perfect pearls mist, place your water colour paper over the wet ink and watch the paper just soak it up! Dry the paper with your heat tool and go again and again and again until you get the look you want. Rememeber to dry your paper in between each inking... Also, by the time you get the result you want your paper may be a little warped just iron the back side of the paper to flatten it out, also a fine spray of hairspray over the card will help avoid he Perfect Pearls from transfering to your hands.

Here I have used unity stamps to stamp the butterfly tail and I just printed Happy Birthday on some card stock from my computer and cut it out, inked the edges and adhered it using foam mounting squares.

These are Unity Stamps also and I've used some left over alphas from different sets to make the sentiment! I have used the Martha Stuart Monarch Butterfly Punch for both cards.

Oh Sew Cute....

Good Morning.............
I want to show you this cutie that I made for my little sister for Christmas, this little kit is an old opera clutch purse that I was using last year. It became pretty ratty so I bought a new wallet and of course kept the old one "just in case".
Well I thought of something to do with it

As my sister lives on a boat she is very hard to buy for so I thought a handmade gift would go down well.

I turned the clutch into a little sewing kit.....

I've just covered each side with fabric and trimmed the edge with tiny pom pom trim I added some detail at the side which is also functional - some red and white tipped pins, the dress form is painted black and heat embossed using 2 coats of ultra thick embossing powder - I wanted super high gloss on this piece, I've wrapped some cotton around the waist of the dress form an tied some charms to it (I've had these charms for years and was going to use them on a layout but I never got around to using them and they are just perfect for this) The letters are foam thickers.

And on the inside......

I've just padded some card board inserts and covered them for the backing so they can be used as pin cusions. The little pocket at the bottom is for flat cotton spools the ribbons are just to slide things under like tape measures and patches or other habidashary type bits and bobs.

So thats it.... I'd love to hear about what you have altered lately.

Have a great Thursday.

Caged!

Something off the page this time..........

I've been getting into some 3D scrapping lately.... Well it is all the rage with everything else so why not!

I found this little cage at the Reject Shop for $2 (Bargain)

I knew what I wanted to do with it when I bought it so I was at a scrap night after my operation and thought it would be a good project to do.... and it was! It was fun to make and because I already had the idea in my head it all came together really well.

I love this little bird I've just painted him silver and then used a top coat of Glimmer Glam.

This Butterful Punch is one of my all time favs from Martha Stewart - Go Martha!

The Flowers and the Trim are Green Tara and everything I've used to decorate this can be purchased from Pages 2 Scrap.
Have a great day XOX

Copic Certification

Hey There... I haven't blogged about Copic Markers! I am Copic Certified, which means that I spent a day learning how to use the markers from Copic trainers. This is really exciting because it means that I can teach others how to use these awesome Markers! I completed the training in November and have played around a little bit and have taught a few basic classes but recently I have become trully addicted!
Colour Therapy is real people! Sitting and colouring in a picture is so relaxing and calming, next time you feel a little stressed grab your kids colouring in and if you feel better come and learn how to colour with the big kids..... Class details below.

I will blog some more examples of my Copic colouring soon.

Here is a little bear that I coloured and made into a card.

Copic 101

I will be teaching a beginners class at Pages 2 Scrap at Tuggerah

Saturday the 5th of March from 2pm till 4pm

In this class you will learn the basics of blending these alcohol based markers and you will colour a teddy bear like this one.

For $30 you get 2 hours of colouring fun and 2 free markers of your choice.

It's heaps of fun and good therapy too!

I'm Back....

Hellooooo I'm back to Blogging - About Time!

Well alot has been going on with me since Christmas.

I've had my Thyroid taken out and am slowly recovering back to my old self!
I've had a few ups and downs but I think I had a break through over this weekend...

So Welcome back me!     Hooray!

This is me the day after Surgery - I look terrible but I didn't feel too bad - I was pretty doped up at this stage!

So I stayed in Hospital for 3 days and came home on the Saturday. I was so worried about being put to sleep for 3 hours but it's just like most things! It is the fear of the unknown!
I was fine and didn't have any weird reaction.

Hospital Highlights:
Visitors - I love my Family and Friends
Great Nurses - So friendly and honestly caring
Lovely Roomies - It was great to have people to chat to.
The sense of humour of the 84 year old lady in the bed across from me! So funny!

Hospital Horribles:
Food!!!! When I could eat I didn't really want to - Blah
Speedy Doctors: I'm drugged up people I need you to speak slowly... very very slowly!!!!
I had some visitors, Mum of course, Daniel, my Dad and my Brother, Tracey and Sam with Little Morgan.
I was pretty out of it so I hope I was decent and not falling asleep on you when you came to see me :)

I also got a call from my Little Sister who is in Spain - It was so good that she called. I miss her!
She gave me this little chick - Which I now know is a Wot Wot - Dotty or Spotty or something like that!
Anyway - I had her with me to keep me company and she really did make me feel better. Thanks Ange

I want to say a big Thanks to my Mum - You were so amazing and you made me feel so much better about everything.
Love You Big!

Also, I came home to this lovely message on my Kitchen Blackboard from Daniel. Sweet!

I also got these lovely flowers from Linda that I work with Mon to Fri - She is great. How gorgeous are these!

Well that is my 1st Blog for this year. I will be back with some updates on what I've been up to creatively soon.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog
